Lady Chargers Battle in Weekend Matches
The Columbia State Lady Chargers hosted a pair of TCCAA rivals at Ridley Park over the weekend, facing Pellissippi State on Friday and Roane State on Sunday.
On Friday, the Lady Chargers and Lady Panthers went toe-to-toe in a back-and-forth match. Pellissippi State struck first in the 15th minute, but Columbia State answered when Scarlett Derrett netted the equalizer off an assist from Aubrie Bollenberg. The score remained tied 1–1 at halftime. In the second half, the Panthers pulled ahead with a 52nd-minute goal before the Lady Chargers responded once again, this time with Bollenberg finding the back of the net from a Derrett assist. With the game level late, Pellissippi State broke the tie in the 87th minute with a header by Royce Gracie, handing Columbia State a hard-fought 3–2 loss.
On Sunday, the Lady Chargers hosted Roane State in another tough contest. Despite controlling the match and firing 38 shots, Columbia State was unable to find the winner, battling to a draw against the Lady Raiders, who managed just six shots of their own.
With the results, the Lady Chargers move to 6-5-1 overall and 4-3-1 in TCCAA play. They return to action on Thursday, October 2, at Ridley Park with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
