Lady Chargers Battle Hard at Motlow State
The Lady Chargers hit the road Sunday to face the No. 13-ranked Motlow State Bucks. Columbia State struck first in the 24th minute when Aubrie Bollenberg found the back of the net off an assist from Scarlett Derrett. The Chargers carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Motlow responded quickly after the break, scoring four goals in a 10-minute span (50th, 51st, 56th, and 59th minutes) to take control at 4-1. The Lady Chargers fought back when Scarlett Derrett scored in the 62nd minute to cut the deficit to 4-2. However, the Bucks capitalized on a penalty kick late in the match to secure the 5-2 win.
With the result, Columbia State moves to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Lady Chargers will be back in action Thursday in Memphis against Southwest Tennessee Community College at 7 p.m.
