Lady Chargers’ Historic Run Ends in TCCAA Championship
The Columbia State Lady Chargers capped off a memorable season on Tuesday, March 10, competing in the TCCAA Region 7 Championship Game against the Walters State Lady Senators. Despite their strong postseason run, the Lady Chargers fell 85–42 to the top-seeded Lady Senators.
While the final score did not go their way, the Lady Chargers' appearance in the championship game marked a significant achievement for the program. Columbia State made program history by advancing to the TCCAA championship game for the first time in over a decade, highlighting the team's determination and growth throughout the season.
Sophomore Lily Melton led the Lady Chargers with 14 points and 5 rebounds, while freshman Kelsey Keiler added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the championship matchup.
At the conclusion of the tournament, three Lady Chargers were named to the TCCAA All-Tournament Team for their outstanding performances throughout the event. Sophomore Lily Melton, freshman Kelsey Keiler, and sophomore Niana Hill each earned the recognition.
The loss brings the 2025–2026 season to a close for Columbia State. The Lady Chargers finish the year with a 16–13 overall record and a 13–7 mark in TCCAA play, while also making a historic run to the conference championship game.
