Lady Chargers Defeat Pellissippi State in TCCAA Matchup
The Lady Chargers basketball team hosted Pellissippi State on Tuesday evening at the Webster Athletic Center in a weather makeup contest and came away with a hard-fought 54–46 TCCAA victory.
Columbia State leaned on a strong all-around performance from sophomore Lily Melton, who led the Lady Chargers with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. Sophomore Niana Hill recorded a double-double of her own, finishing with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals. Freshman Kelsey Keiler added another double-double, contributing 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
The Lady Chargers controlled the tempo throughout the night and made key defensive stops down the stretch to secure the conference win.
With the victory, Columbia State improves to 11–9 overall and 10–4 in TCCAA play.
The Lady Chargers will hit the road next, traveling to Dyersburg State on Wednesday, Feb. 11, for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against the Lady Eagles.
