Lady Chargers Battle No. 12 Walters State in TCCAA Showdown
The Columbia State Lady Chargers hosted Walters State on Saturday afternoon at The Web in a highly competitive TCCAA matchup. The No. 12-ranked Lady Senators edged out the Lady Chargers, 72–66, in a hard-fought contest that featured strong performances from Columbia State throughout the game.
The Lady Chargers played with great energy and determination, staying within reach against one of the top teams in the conference. Freshman Kelsey Keiler led Columbia State with an impressive all-around performance, scoring 20 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore Lily Melton recorded a double-double, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding five steals on the defensive end. Freshman Emma Sharp contributed 10 points, along with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Sophomore Niana Hill also reached double figures, scoring 10 points while adding two rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
With the result, the Lady Chargers move to 6–8 overall and 5–3 in TCCAA play, remaining firmly in the conference race.
Columbia State will return to action at home on Wednesday, January 14, when they host Southwest Tennessee Community College at The Web. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
