Lady Chargers Secure Hard-Fought Victory Over Jackson State
The Columbia State Lady Chargers earned a big Region 7 win at Webster Gym last night, defeating the Jackson State Green Jays 68-64. The victory improves the Lady Chargers' record to 12-8 overall and 11-3 in conference play.
Freshman Lily Melton led the charge with an impressive double-double, posting 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Freshman Jacie Scott also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Ansley Burleson contributed across the board with 12 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and three blocks. Braley Burleson added nine points, while Queen Benjamin chipped in eight. The Lady Chargers also capitalized at the free-throw line, shooting 78% on the night.
