Lady Chargers Drop Doubleheader at Jackson State
The Columbia State Lady Chargers traveled to Jackson State on Friday, April 17 for a TCCAA doubleheader, falling in both contests to the Lady Green Jays, 6-4 in game one and 6-1 in game two.
In the opening game, the Lady Chargers outhit Jackson State 12-6 but were unable to capitalize on key scoring opportunities. Sophomore Haley Gamblin led the offensive effort, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs, and one run scored.
Several Lady Chargers contributed at the plate, including Hazelyn Minton (2-for-4), Madison Arel (2-for-4, one run), and Aspen Tipton-Williams (2-for-3, one RBI, one run). Bella Birdsong added a 1-for-3 performance with a run scored, while Mycah Price and Marion Gamble each recorded a hit.
Marion Gamble got the start in the circle, pitching six innings with eight hits allowed, six runs (five earned), and one strikeout. Gamblin came in for relief, tossing one inning and allowing one hit.
In game two, the Lady Chargers recorded eight hits but again struggled to convert offensively in a 6-1 loss. Madison Arel led the way, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Bella Birdsong added two hits, while Hazelyn Minton went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Haley Gamblin and Summer Alsup each contributed a hit.
Emily Copley started in the circle, pitching two innings with six hits allowed, five runs (three earned), and two strikeouts. Marion Gamble provided relief, going four innings and allowing just one run on six hits.
The Lady Chargers will return home on Tuesday, April 21 to host the Dyersburg State Lady Eagles in their final home game of the 2026 season at Eddie Campbell Field. The doubleheader is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
