Lady Chargers Fall to Jackson State; Sophomores Honored at Eddie Campbell Field
The Lady Chargers softball team hosted the Green Jays of Jackson State Community College on Wednesday, April 8 at Eddie Campbell Field for a TCCAA doubleheader.
In game one, the Lady Chargers fell 14-2 despite collecting seven hits as a team. Offensively, Bella Birdsong went 1-for-4, while Hazelyn Minton finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Aspen Tipton-Williams added a 1-for-4 performance with a run, and Madison Arel led the way going 2-for-3 with a double. Emily Copley (1-for-3) and Sara Craft (1-for-2) also contributed at the plate.
In the circle, Copley got the start, pitching 5.0 innings while allowing six hits and three earned runs, and recording four strikeouts.
In game two, the Lady Chargers dropped an 11-2 decision. The offense was limited to four hits, with Minton, Haley Gamblin, and Arel each recording a hit. Arel drove in both runs for the Lady Chargers, while Tipton-Williams added a double.
Gamblin started in the circle for game two, going 4.0 innings with six hits allowed, seven runs (two earned), and one strikeout.
After the games, the Lady Chargers took time to recognize their sophomore class for their commitment and dedication to the program over the past two years. Honored were Haley Gamblin, Mycah Price, Madison Arel, Bella Birdsong, and Christina Juarez. The program extends its appreciation for their hard work and contributions both on and off the field.
The Lady Chargers will return to action on the road Friday, April 10, traveling to Volunteer State Community College for a TCCAA doubleheader against the Lady Pioneers.
