Lady Chargers Sweep TCCAA Doubleheader at Southwest Tennessee

The Columbia State Lady Chargers hit the road on Tuesday for a TCCAA matchup against Southwest Tennessee Community College and came away with an impressive doubleheader sweep, winning 9-4 in game one and outlasting their opponent 29-20 in a high-scoring game two.

Despite chilly conditions, the Lady Chargers' bats stayed hot from the start. In game one, Columbia State tallied 11 hits to power the 9-4 victory. Bella Birdsong led the way going 2-for-5 with two runs scored, while Mycah Price delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance with a run and two RBIs. Haley Gamblin added a strong showing at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Contributions continued throughout the lineup as Hazelyn Minton, Aspen Tipton-Williams, Summer Alsup, and Madison Arel each recorded hits, and Christian Juarez drove in a run.

In the circle, Emily Copley earned the win with a complete game effort, tossing seven innings while allowing four hits and four runs (just one earned) and striking out three.

Game two turned into an offensive explosion, with the Lady Chargers securing a 29-20 victory behind a relentless attack. Haley Gamblin had a standout performance, going a perfect 5-for-5 with six runs scored and nine RBIs. Bella Birdsong continued her big day at the plate, finishing 5-for-7 with five runs and three RBIs, while Hazelyn Minton added three hits, five runs, and four RBIs.

The offensive surge didn't stop there, as Aspen Tipton-Williams went 5-for-6 with three runs and three RBIs, Christina Juarez contributed four hits and four RBIs, and Madison Arel drove in four runs. Additional production came from Sara Craft, Mycah Price, and Summer Alsup, rounding out a dominant team effort.

Gamblin also picked up the win in the circle, pitching three innings. She was supported by Marion Gamble and Copley, who combined in relief to secure the victory.

The Lady Chargers return home on Tuesday, March 24, for a TCCAA doubleheader against Motlow State at Eddie Campbell Field.
