Lady Chargers Compete in Gadsden Road Games
The Lady Chargers traveled to Gadsden, Alabama, for a pair of matchups against Gadsden State and Lurleen B. Wallace CC, gaining valuable experience against strong competition.
In game one versus Gadsden State, the Lady Chargers dropped a 12–1 decision in five innings. Offensively, the Chargers recorded four hits, with Bella Birdsong, Mycah Price, Haley Gamblin, and Aspen Tipton-Williams each contributing a base hit. In the circle, Marion Gamble took the loss, pitching 3.0 innings while striking out two. Emily Copley came on in relief and tossed 1.0 inning, allowing just one hit and recording a strikeout.
The nightcap against Lurleen B. Wallace CC turned into an offensive battle, with the Lady Chargers coming out swinging and collecting 14 total hits, but ultimately falling 13–9. Bella Birdsong led the way with a big day at the plate, going 4-for-5 and scoring four runs. Hazelyn Minton was perfect at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Haley Gamblin drove in four runs on a 3-for-4 performance, while Kinley Wiser added a home run and an RBI. Additional contributions came from Mycah Price, Aspen Tipton-Williams, Jaides Parrish, and Kinley Wiser, as the Chargers consistently put pressure on the defense.
In the circle, Haley Gamblin started the game and took the loss, pitching 3.0 innings. Emily Copley and Marion Gamble provided relief, with Gamble striking out four batters over 4.0 innings of work.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back as they remain on the road, traveling to Itawamba CC on Monday, February 23.
