Lady Chargers Drop Doubleheader to Northeast Mississippi
The Lady Chargers hosted Northeast Mississippi on Tuesday, February 17, at Eddie Campbell Field but came up short in a non-conference doubleheader.
In game one, the Lady Chargers fell 12–8 despite a strong offensive push that included a six-run inning. Columbia State totaled six hits in the contest and showed resilience after falling behind early.
Jaides Parrish led the offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Haley Gamblin added a solo home run and finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Mycah Price went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and a run, while Hazelyn Minton also doubled and went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Aspen Tipton-Williams chipped in with a 1-for-3 performance and scored a run.
In the circle, Marion Gamble pitched all seven innings, recording three strikeouts while allowing 10 hits and 12 runs (10 earned).
Game two saw the Lady Chargers shut out 9–0. Offensively, Bella Birdsong paced the team with a 2-for-3 performance. Mycah Price was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2, while Hazelyn Minton and Madison Arel each added hits.
Haley Gamblin started game two, pitching four innings and allowing seven runs (six earned). Emily Copley worked one inning in relief, surrendering two runs (one earned).
The Lady Chargers will be back on the road Saturday, February 21, traveling to face Gadsden State and Lurleen B. Wallace CC. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by a second game at 3 p.m.
