Lady Chargers Battle Hard, Drop Two to Jackson State
The Lady Chargers Softball team hosted Jackson State on Wednesday at Eddie Campbell Field for a TCCAA doubleheader, falling just short in both games. Despite a pair of competitive showings, the Lady Chargers dropped game one 4-3 and game two 5-3.
Game One Recap:
Offense was hard to come by in the opening game, with the Lady Chargers managing just four hits. Mycah Price provided the big swing with a two-run home run, while Abigail Brown and Reagan Burleson each doubled. Jaides Parrish also added a hit to round out the offense. In the circle, Samantha Staggs threw a complete game, allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out five in a strong outing.
Game Two Recap:
The Lady Chargers bounced back at the plate in game two with a stronger offensive showing. Bella Birdsong and Abigail Brown both went 2-for-4, with Brown collecting her second double of the day and scoring a run. Madison Arel also had a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-4. Samantha Staggs and Jaides Parrish each drove in a run. Jaylee Warren got the start, pitching five innings and giving up five earned runs on seven hits while striking out one.
The Lady Chargers now look ahead to another key conference matchup as they host the Lady Pioneers of Volunteer State on Friday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at Eddie Campbell Field.
