Lady Chargers Show Grit in Mid-State Classic
The Lady Chargers Softball team took the field at Ridley Park for the Mid-State Classic, hosting Calhoun College in an exciting matchup. The event, organized by the City of Columbia, drew an amazing turnout, showcasing strong community support for the teams.
Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Chargers fell short, losing 7-3. Sophomore Samantha Staggs led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with a home run and driving in all three of the team's runs. Bella Birdsong, Jaylee Warren, and Mycah Price each added a hit to the tally.
Staggs also took the loss in the circle, pitching a complete game. She went 7 innings, allowing 9 hits, 5 earned runs, and striking out 7 batters in a strong effort.
The Lady Chargers will take advantage of a brief break before returning to action on Wednesday, March 26, when they travel to Motlow State for a key TCCAA matchup.
