Lady Chargers Battle Hard Against Northeast Mississippi
The Lady Chargers Softball team faced a tough challenge on Thursday as they hosted Northeast Mississippi at Eddie Campbell Field. Despite their determination, the Lady Chargers fell short in both games of the doubleheader, losing 10-4 in game one and 9-0 in game two.
In the opener, the Lady Chargers battled hard, with neither team breaking the deadlock until the fifth inning. Columbia State managed five hits, showcasing moments of offensive strength. Bella Birdsong led the charge with a double and three RBIs, while Madison Arel added a solo home run. Jaelyn Luke, Abigail Brown, and Mycah Price each contributed a hit to the team's effort. On the mound, Christina Juarez pitched a complete game, throwing seven innings and allowing 11 hits, nine earned runs, four walks, and recording one strikeout.
Game two saw Columbia State struggling to find their rhythm at the plate, managing just three hits. Abigail Brown remained a bright spot with two hits, and Samantha Staggs added a double. Staggs also took the mound, pitching six innings, surrendering 11 hits, seven earned runs, three walks, and striking out six.
