Lady Chargers Battle Hard Against Roane State in TCCAA Series
The Lady Chargers Softball team hosted Roane State on Saturday for a TCCAA matchup, battling hard but ultimately falling short in both games of the series.
In Game One, the Lady Chargers fought in a high-scoring contest but came up just short, losing 11-9. Jayla Davenport led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a run, two RBIs, and a double. Samantha Staggs contributed a 2-for-5 performance with a double and an RBI, while Abigail Brown went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Madison Arel had a standout game, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run. Jaides Parrish added a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored. Jaylee Warren, Jaelyn Luke (double), and Mycah Price each chipped in with a hit. Staggs pitched a complete game, allowing 14 hits and 11 runs (7 earned) over 7 innings, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.
In Game Two, the Lady Chargers' bats cooled off, resulting in a 9-1 loss. Jaylee Warren went 2-for-3, while Jaides Parrish and Reagan Burleson each went 2-for-2. Jayla Davenport, Bella Birdsong (double), and Samantha Staggs each added a hit. Warren took the loss in the circle, pitching 1 inning and giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs.
The Lady Chargers now hold a 2-12 overall record and are 1-3 in TCCAA play. They look to bounce back on the road against Southwest TN in Memphis for a TCCAA doubleheader on Wednesday, March 5.
