Chargers Fall in TCCAA Championship
The Columbia State Chargers competed for the TCCAA Region 7 Championship on Tuesday, March 10, facing the #1 seed Walters State Senators in a hard-fought title matchup. Despite leading for much of the game, the Chargers came up just short, falling 68–65 in a tightly contested battle.
Columbia State controlled the tempo for much of the contest and held the lead for large stretches of the game. Walters State made a late push down the stretch to secure the narrow three-point victory.
Freshman Nate Malosa led the Chargers with a strong all-around performance, finishing with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Sophomore Taveon Comage added 15 points and 3 assists, while sophomore Jamison Glass contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Freshman JD Claybrook also made an impact for the Chargers, recording 9 points and 5 rebounds in the championship matchup.
Following the tournament, three Chargers were named to the TCCAA All-Tournament Team for their outstanding performances. Sophomore Jamison Glass, sophomore Taveon Comage, and freshman Nate Malosa each earned the honor.
Although the Chargers fell just short of the conference title, the team completed an outstanding season with a 27–6 overall record and an 18–2 mark in TCCAA play, highlighting one of the most successful seasons in recent program history. The Chargers' strong run to the TCCAA Region 7 Championship game capped a memorable season for Columbia State men's basketball.
