Chargers Battle No. 14 Walters State in Tight TCCAA Road Contest
The Chargers men's basketball team traveled to Morristown on Saturday, February 21, for a key TCCAA showdown against the No. 14–ranked Walters State Senators. In a hard-fought, defensive battle between two of the conference's top teams, the Chargers came up just short, falling 61–57.
Sophomore Taveon Comage led all CSCC scorers with an outstanding all-around performance, finishing with 21 points, four rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. Sophomore Kenny Ellis added nine points and seven rebounds, while freshmen Tyren Fisher and Nate Malosa each pulled down eight rebounds. Fisher chipped in seven points, matching Malosa's strong presence on the glass.
Despite the loss, the Chargers remain one of the top teams in the conference, holding a 23–5 overall record and standing 16–2 in TCCAA play. With only two regular-season games remaining, the Chargers will look to close out the schedule strong as they head back on the road to face the Saluqis of Southwest Tennessee CC on Wednesday, February 25, in another important conference matchup.
The Chargers are currently holding firm in second place in the TCCAA standings and are preparing for postseason action at the TCCAA Region 7 Basketball Tournament, set for March 6–10 at Volunteer State.
