Chargers Split Weekend at Louis Connor Basketball Classic
The Columbia State Chargers men's basketball team hosted the Louis Connor Basketball Classic this weekend at The Web, welcoming Roane State, Vincennes University, and Southwest Mississippi Community College for a competitive two-day event honoring one of the most influential figures in Chargers history.
The classic is named after Louis Connor, a former Charger basketball player, head coach, instructor, and athletic director, whose legacy continues to shape Columbia State Athletics.
Friday: Chargers Outlast Southwest Mississippi in Overtime
Columbia State opened the classic on Friday, January 2, with a thrilling overtime victory against Southwest Mississippi Community College, edging the Bears 81–77.
The Chargers showed resilience in a tightly contested matchup, pulling away in the extra period to secure the win.

Sophomore Jamison Glass led all scorers with 23 points and added 6 rebounds.

Sophomore Taveon Comage chipped in 17 points and was disruptive defensively with 6 steals.

The Chargers' freshmen made their presence felt as Tyren Fisher recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Nate Malosa added 10 points and 10 rebounds of his own.
Saturday: Vincennes Takes Control
On Saturday, January 3, the Chargers faced a tough challenge in a rematch against #2-ranked Vincennes University. The Trail Blazers controlled the tempo from start to finish, handing Columbia State a 69–38 loss.
Despite the result, the Chargers continued to compete:

Jamison Glass posted 6 points and 12 rebounds.

Sophomore Kenny Ellis finished with 6 points.

Nate Malosa and Murray Norman each added 5 points, while Tyren Fisher and Sam Parson contributed 4 points apiece.

Following the weekend, the Chargers stand at 13–3 overall on the season. Columbia State returns home to The Web on Wednesday, January 7, when they host Tennessee Valley Community Christian.
