Chargers Go 2–0 at Johnny Littrell Basketball Classic
The Columbia State Chargers enjoyed a strong two-day showing on December 18–19, hosting the Johnny Littrell Basketball Classic at The Web.
The four-team tournament featured Columbia State, Tennessee Valley Community Christian, Dyersburg State, and Shelton State, and the Chargers rose to the occasion with two impressive victories.
On Thursday, Columbia State opened the Classic with a high-scoring 117–91 win over Tennessee Valley Community Christian. Freshman Sam Parson led the Chargers with 24 points, adding six rebounds and three steals. Fellow freshman Nate Malosa contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Jamison Glass finished with 12 points. Sophomore Taveon Comage chipped in 10 points and four steals in the victory.
The Chargers returned to the court on Friday, December 19, facing the Bucs of Shelton State. In a hard-fought matchup, Columbia State used strong defense and balanced scoring to secure a 72–55 win. Sophomore Jamison Glass recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Taveon Comage and Tyren Fisher each scored 12 points, while Kenny Ellis added 10 points and seven steals to help seal the win.
With the pair of victories, the Chargers close out the first half of the season with an impressive 12–2 record.
Columbia State will return to action on January 2–3, hosting the Louis Connor Basketball Classic at The Web. The Chargers will welcome Southwest Mississippi Community College, Roane State, and Vincennes University for the two-day tournament.
