Chargers Dominate Motlow State Bucks in Region 7 Victory
The Columbia State Chargers continued their impressive season on Saturday, January 25, defeating the Motlow State Bucks 93-77 in a Region 7 showdown. The Chargers showcased their offensive firepower, led by a stellar performance from Thaddeus Johnson, who poured in 29 points while going 8-for-9 at the free throw line.
Sophomore Mahki Wright added a strong all-around effort with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Sophomore Simeon Williams contributed 15 points, and freshman Jamison Glass chipped in with 11 points and 7 rebounds. The Chargers were sharp from the free throw line, shooting 80% on the night.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 17-3 overall and 8-2 in TCCAA conference play. They now look ahead to a highly anticipated matchup against the Volunteer State Pioneers on Wednesday, January 29. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Webster Gym.
Honoring Chargers Championship Teams
Columbia State was proud to host the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 Chargers Basketball Championship Teams during halftime of the men's game.
The 2013-2014 team had a season to remember, finishing with an incredible 28-4 record and earning a spot in the National Tournament. Their journey to the Elite 8 was a testament to their resilience and drive, making all of us at Columbia State proud.
The following season, the 2014-2015 team continued the legacy of excellence with a 26-7 record. They fought their way to the Sweet 16 in the National Tournament, proving that the Chargers were a force to be reckoned with on the national stage.
To the members of the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 teams: thank you for your contributions to Columbia State, for representing our college with excellence, and for the memories you've given us. You will always be a cherished part of our Chargers family. Congratulations on your success, and here's to the legacy you've created!
