Chargers Pound Out 14 Hits in Tough Loss to Motlow State
The Columbia State Chargers baseball team put together another strong offensive performance on Tuesday, tallying 14 hits in a non-conference matchup against Motlow State. Despite the offensive surge, the Chargers came up short against the Bucks.
Julian Richards led the way at the plate with a perfect 5-for-5 performance, including a double and a home run, while scoring two runs and driving in one. Holden Warmath added two hits and scored twice, while Jordan Akins continued his consistent play, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
The Chargers lineup stayed productive throughout the game, with Owen Hutcheson driving in three runs on a hit, and Cary Burke adding a double and three RBIs of his own. John Carter and Russ Lambert each contributed a hit, helping Columbia State generate offense up and down the lineup.
On the mound, Harrison Cassle got the start and went five innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out five. Brayden Whitlow followed in relief, throwing 1.2 innings, while Parker Day added 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Logan Johnson also saw action out of the bullpen, recording a strikeout in one inning of work.
The Chargers will look to bounce back this weekend as they travel to face Roane State in a key TCCAA conference series.
