Chargers Fall in High-Scoring Battle at Snead State
The Chargers Baseball team traveled to Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama on Tuesday, March 3, falling in a high-scoring contest to the Parsons, 13-11.
Columbia State outhit Snead State 13-12 on the afternoon but came up just short in the final innings.
Leading the offensive charge was Julian Richards, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jordan Akins turned in a big day at the plate, finishing 4-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs. Isaac Schafer added a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI and a run, while John Carter went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Cary Burke contributed a hit along with an RBI and a run scored, and Jax Nichols added a hit, two RBIs, and a run to round out the Chargers' 13-hit effort.
On the mound, Harrison Cassle pitched 3.1 innings, allowing six hits and eight earned runs while striking out two. Will Rhodes followed with 2.2 innings of work, giving up five hits and four earned runs with two strikeouts. Nick Bolton closed out the game with 2.0 innings, allowing just one hit and one run (zero earned) while striking out one.
The Chargers now sit at 7-10 overall and 6-3 in TCCAA play. Due to inclement weather expected later this week, Columbia State will travel to Jackson State Community College on Thursday and Friday for conference action. The previously scheduled home matchup Thursday versus Grand Rapids Community College has been canceled.
