Chargers Claim Series Win Over Volunteer State

The Chargers welcomed the Pioneers from Volunteer State to Dave Hall Field on Friday and Saturday for a key weekend TCCAA series — and came away with the series win in front of the home crowd.

Game One – Friday, February 27

Chargers 12, Pioneers 7 (9 innings)

Columbia State opened the series with an explosive offensive performance, collecting 12 hits in a 12-7 victory.

Offensively, the Chargers were led by:

• Holden Warmath – 3 hits, 4 RBI, run scored

• Cary Burke – Double, home run, 2 runs, 2 RBI

On the mound, Noah Taylor earned the win after throwing 5 innings, allowing 8 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), and striking out 5.

Steele Moseley provided solid relief with 2 innings pitched, allowing 3 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 2.

Logan Johnson closed the door over the final two innings, giving up just 1 hit and recording 2 strikeouts to secure the win.

Game Two – Saturday, February 28

Chargers 6, Pioneers 1 (7 innings)

The Chargers kept the momentum rolling in Saturday's first game, tallying 7 hits in a 6-1 victory.

Leading the offense:

Tate Riggs delivered a dominant complete-game performance, going all 7 innings while allowing just 3 hits and 1 earned run. Riggs struck out 7 to earn the win and keep the Chargers firmly in control of the series.

Game Three – Saturday, February 28

Pioneers 13, Chargers 3 (7 innings)

In the series finale, the Chargers fell 13-3 despite an 8-hit effort at the plate.

Offensive highlights included:

With two strong wins to open the weekend, the Chargers secured the series victory over Volunteer State and continue to build momentum in conference play.

Columbia State hits the road on Tuesday, March 3 for a 2 p.m. matchup at Snead State Parsons before returning home on Thursday, March 5 to host Grand Rapids Community College Raiders at 1 p.m.
