Former Lady Charger Returns Home to Join Columbia State Coaching Staff

Columbia State Community College Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Jasmine Runk Edwards as the new Assistant Soccer and Softball Coach.

 

Edwards returns to Columbia State, where her collegiate journey began as a member of the inaugural Lady Chargers women's soccer team. She helped lead the 2019 Lady Chargers to a TCCAA Conference Championship before continuing her athletic and academic career at Glenville State University in West Virginia. There, she competed in both soccer and softball while earning a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. She was also named to the President's List during both her junior and senior years.

 

Since graduating, Edwards has gained valuable coaching experience at the youth and travel levels. She has spent the past four years coaching competitive youth soccer, training goalkeepers, and coaching travel softball while also serving as a Physical Therapy Technician with Maury Regional Health.

 

"We are excited to welcome Jasmine back to Columbia State," said Director of Athletics Katie Willingham. "As a former Charger and someone who competed in both soccer and softball at the collegiate level, Jasmine brings a unique perspective to our department. Her knowledge of both sports, combined with her enthusiasm and passion for mentoring young people, will make a tremendous impact on our student-athletes. We are thrilled to have her back where her collegiate career began."

 

Edwards said returning to Columbia State is an opportunity to give back to the institution that helped shape her as both a student and an athlete.

"I'm incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to come back to where it all started for me," Edwards said. "Returning to a place that played such a big role in my journey is truly special, and I can't wait to give everything I have to help build on its tradition. It's an honor to be back at Columbia State!"

 

Edwards' experience as a two-sport collegiate athlete, combined with her commitment to academic excellence and passion for developing young people, makes her an outstanding addition to the Columbia State Athletics family. As a former Lady Charger, she returns with a deep appreciation for the program's history and a desire to help write its next chapter while mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field.
